Registration & Voter Education – at the Park!
San Mateo County Elections & the League of Women Voters team up at
South San Francisco’s Day at the Park

Redwood City, CA – This Saturday, September 20  the Northern/Central League of Women Voters and the San Mateo County Elections Office will co-host a booth at South San Francisco’s annual “Day at the Park” event as a service to the community. Both organizations share in the mission of encouraging voter participation and providing voter education. “Day in the Park” begins at 10:00 a.m. and runs until 4 p.m. at Orange Memorial Park located at Orange Avenue & Tennis Drive in South San Francisco.

Citizens will be able to register (or re-register) on the spot, practice using the voting equipment, and/or sign up to vote by mail. Brochures and applications to sign up to be an Election Officer, or a student poll worker or work in one of the other election day jobs, will be available, too, and applications will be taken that day.           

“This election will be historic – the candidates running are not traditional, the issues facing the country, our state and this county our enormous, and the enthusiasm for this election is unprecedented,” said Warren Slocum, Chief Elections Officer for San Mateo County. “We expect a huge voter turnout!”           

“Look for us next to the Wells Fargo bus that the San Mateo County Community College District.” The SMCCD will have computer terminals hooked up to the internet that take people to the Elections website, www.shapethefuture.org , where they can confirm their registration and get other election related information  and the League of Women voters website, www.smartvoter.org where they can look up candidate information and find their polling place.
