Tuesday is the Last Day to Register to Vote
for the March 8 Brisbane School District Special Election

Redwood City, CA – With the March 8 Brisbane School District Special Election just days away, San Mateo County Chief Elections Officer Mark Church is reminding citizens that Tuesday, February 22 is the last day for voters to register or re-register to vote and be eligible to vote in this election. The registration period was extended by one day because Monday, February 21 is the President’s Day Holiday.

“The district is seeking support for the continuation of an existing parcel tax; it’s the voter’s opportunity to help decide this important local issue. But to vote, you must be registered,” said Mark Church, Chief Elections Officer for San Mateo County.

To be eligible to register to vote in this election, a person must be:

(1) A U.S. citizen;

(2) At least 18 years old on Election Day;

(3) A resident of the Brisbane School District;

(4) Not in prison or on parole for a felony conviction; and

(5) Not deemed by a court to be mentally incompetent to register and vote. Voters are also required to re-register to vote if they have moved or changed their name.

Voter registration cards can be obtained from the Elections Office, as well as any public library, city hall, post office or DMV. Cards can also be downloaded from the Secretary of State’s Web site at http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/english.pdf. Voter registration cards require an original signature and must be submitted in person or through the mail. A registration card postmarked on or before Feb. 22 will be accepted as meeting the registration deadline.
